The silent Indian

The silent Indian

I weep for the liberty of my country when I see at this early day of its successful experiment that corruption has been imputed to the ruling class and most powerful, and the rights of the people have been bartered for promises of office.

This is my feeling when I see the present day India. India is reeling under many strains. First there is the silent government who seems accountable to no one but itself. Then there is corruption which is eating away our society like termites. There is total and scant for the rule of law and each and every one feels himself or herself to be above law only justifying their misdeeds. All this happens and the greater majority who are the real Indian citizens keep quiet tucked away in our silent world frustrated but unable or unwilling to respond.

Now what has made me write this blog? Is it my frustration on the happenings that makes my country suffer while it's rulers live a life without even caring about the well being about us Indians. Are we same Indians who came out in millions to protest the misdeeds of the British and eventually attained freedom? Is this the same India that produced great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda? What has happened to us that we suffer such injustice without even uttering a word of protest?
Corruption

The recent happenings does not hold good for our country. The most horrific incident has been the brutal assassination of five of our brave soldiers by a cowardly enemy? I am shocked because there was no reaction from the government except a murmur of protest. If it was some other country say Israel, the enemy would by now be counting their dead bodies that is assured with quick and punishing retaliation. Is India not capable and powerful enough of doing the same? The truth is that we are powerful but our rulers does not have the guts to take the necessary actions and let lose our enemy.

Everybody has their own political agenda. Now as many may know Kerala is now reeling under the controversy of a financial scam that has taken it's branch to the very centre of the state government. Now the opposition has announced an indefinite agitation by completely encircling the Secretariat and mot letting anybody work. Now I am not against any kind of protest against corruption and am of the opinion that corruption and the corrupt should be dealt with iron hand. But can such protect happen with the cost of the fundamental right of a citizen to work and eek out a living? A common man's fundamental right is affected if there is hartal or a bandh. Further the very opposition that seems to be fighting against the corruption does not have clean hands. The common man is no fool and he can see through the game. That is why the support for such protest is dwindling among the masses.

But what stands apart is the realization with the common man that nothing is going to change in India and things will be as it is come what may. But be warned, this quiet nature is a lull before the tempest. The earlier the ruling elite understand this the better. The kind of protest that rattled the capital during the death of the Nirbhaya is a case in point which saw the pent-up frustration coming out. Let not the silence of the masses be taken for granted. Because a time will come when the rulers will need to reply to the common man.

Now as a common man, our country needs us to be vigilant and throw out those who see themselves above the welfare of the country. Let us awake and fight injustice lest history will never forgive our silence. It is our duty as the son of this great country.
