INS Kadmatt ( Image credits- Indian navy) Source- The Indian Navy INS Kadmatt, the second indigenous stealth Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Corvette built by M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is scheduled to be commissioned by Admiral RK Dhowan, the Chief of the Naval Staff at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam on Thursday, 07 January 16. A unique feature of the ship is the high level of indigenisation incorporated in the production, accentuating our national objective of ‘Make in India’. About 90% of the ship is indigenous. She is the first of a new class of corvettes designed and built in India with high level indigenous content. Built as an Anti Submarine warfare corvette, Kamorta is highly capable and a real force multiplier.  Kamorta class corvettes are the Indian Navy's next-generation anti submarine warfare platform, built under Project 28. INS Kamorta ( Image credits- Wikimedia commons/ Indian Navy) INS Kamorta, the first of the four indigenously-built anti-submarine warfare (ASW) stealth corvettes is being equipped with many state-of-the-art systems from city-based Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL). Commissioned into the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam today, the INS Kamorta has added a new dimension to the ASW capability of the Indian Navy and in particular, the eastern fleet. BEL has been a silent partner to some of the most advanced programmes of the Indian Navy, has supplied all the major sensors and electronic systems onboard INS Kamorta. These include a 3-D Surveillance Radar (Revathi), Active-cum-Passive Integrated Sonar System (Humsa-NG), EW System Sanket, Combat Management System, Fire Control System (Lynx), Ship Data Network, Composite Communication System (CCS Mk III) and Data Link (Link II). India to Induct Indigenous Anti-sub Corvette Soon ( Copy Right @ The New Indian Express)

INS Kamorta ( Image credits- Wikimedia Commons/ Indian Navy) NEW DELHI: India is all set to induct its newest corvette later this month at Visakhapatnam to boost its anti-submarine warfare capabilities. The warship was built by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, one of India’s four defence public sector shipyards. To be commissioned as INS Kamorta, it is a super sophisticated frontline warship with stealth features and it will sail from GRSE to Visakhapatnam ahead of its induction into the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet. Earlier known by its GRSE codename ‘Yard-3017’, Kamorta’s keel was first laid in 2006 and was launched into the waters in 2010.  The Navy has designated Commander Major Jha as the first Captain of Kamorta.
