Overstating the China Threat? ( Copy Right @ The Diplomat, Original article by Amitai Etzioni)

PLA Tank ( Pic courtesy Wikimedia Commons and Dan, The Author) One of Washington’s leading members of Congress, J. Randy Forbes, and a brilliant analyst, Elbridge Colby, sound the alarm. They  believe that China has made precipitous gains  against the United States’ military power and that the U.S. must urgently increase its defense efforts to maintain its superiority. Forbes and Colby assert that “the balance of military power in the Asia-Pacific writ large is under serious and growing pressure from China’s military-modernization efforts,” and the U.S. “edge in technology … is eroding.” They caution that China’s military buildup poses “critical” challenges “to achieving U.S. political-military objectives in the areas that have traditionally been part of our defense umbrella,” namely “challenges to [the United States’] military superiority in the crucial air, sea, space, and cyberspace domains.” Most alarming, Forbes and Colby hold that failure to act could have “tremendous str

Pakistan to buy six submarines from China: Russian media ( Copy Right @ Want China Times)

A Yuan Class submarine ( Pic courtesy Wikimedia commons and the author) Pakistan is planning to purchase six conventional submarines from China as a way to counter the influence of expanding Indian maritime power, the Military-Industrial Courier, a Russian-language website focused on global defense issues reported on April 3. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Pakistan's minister of defense production, is currently visiting Beijing to discuss the purchase of submarines from China, according to information released by the Pakistani government. Reports have circulated that Islamabad will sign a contract with Beijing before the end of the year to introduce six Type 041 Yuan-class diesel-electric submarines, to be constructed at either the Wuhan or Jiangnan shipyard. However, some experts say that the submarines will be S20s, the export version of the Type 041. The only difference between the Type 041 and the S20 is that the latter does not have the former's air-independent propulsion

India's missile build up gathers pace with Monday's Brahmos test by the Indian Army ( Copy Right @ IBN Live, original article by Saurav Jha)

Brahmos- Block III ( Image courtesy Wikimedia Commons and The Press Information Bureau, Govt of India) Monday's test by the Indian Army (IA) of a deep penetration version of the Brahmos symbolizes the emergence of a new era in standoff strike capability for the Indian military as it readies itself for any potential two-front war with Pakistan and China. As precision guided munitions (PGM) have become more accurate, militaries across the world have looked to move key assets and storage facilities underground in order to fortify them from standoff strikes. Defeating such hard and deeply buried targets (HDBTs) requires terminal manoeuvring capabilities and warhead versatility that the Brahmos program has now demonstrated operationally. But the Brahmos is one of a whole new generation of highly accurate missile systems being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) that can serve to give the Indian military an advantage if procured in numbers not just

Scientists Claim That Quantum Theory Proves Consciousness Moves To Another Universe At Death ( Copy Right @ Exposing the realities, author Dr Robert Lanza)

Lanza is an expert in regenerative medicine and scientific director of Advanced Cell Technology Company. Before he has been known for his extensive research which dealt with stem cells, he was also famous for several successful experiments on cloning endangered animal species. But not so long ago, the scientist became involved with physics, quantum mechanics and astrophysics. This explosive mixture has given birth to the new theory of biocentrism, which the professor has been preaching ever since.  Biocentrism teaches that life and consciousness are fundamental to the universe.  It is consciousness that creates the material universe, not the other way around. Lanza points to the structure of the universe itself, and that the laws, forces, and constants of the universe appear to be fine-tuned for life, implying intelligence existed prior to matter.  He also claims that space and time are not objects or things, but rather tools of our animal understanding.  Lanza says that we car

South China Sea: Regional States Push Back Against China ( Copy right @ The Diplomat, article by Carl Thayer)

Image courtesy- Wikimedia Commons On March 18, officials from China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) met in Singapore to resume consultations on a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea  that began last September. This meeting should have created an atmosphere for the lowering of tensions in the South China Sea. At the least, China and the ASEAN claimant states could have been expected to avoid provocations while the consultations were progressing. Just the opposite occurred. Nine days before the ASEAN-China discussions commenced, Chinese Coast Guard vessels stationed at Second Thomas Shoal took the unprecedented action of  blocking routine resupply for Philippine Marines stationed at the shoal. At the end of March, as the deadline approached for the Philippines to submit its memorial to the United Nations Arbitral Tribunal set up to hear Philippine claims regarding its maritime entitlements under the UN Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), China u

Modi's new India ( Copy Right @ ETV and The Pioneer)

HARI SHANKAR VYAS , senior Journalist and anchor of the popular programme  Central Hall  on ETV, speaks to the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi about his vision and plans for a new India What is the significance of the slogan, ‘Congress-free India’? Why not, corruption-free India, unemployment-free India or poverty-free India? I have one satisfaction; the country knows me at least for one thing: Whenever Modi speaks, he speaks frankly without inhibitions, and from the heart, with conviction. When I speak about a ‘Congress-free India’, I mean freedom from the work-culture that the Congress has given to this nation during the last sixty years. I refer to freedom from the politics of vote bank, the politics of grabbing power through these means. The country hasn’t witnessed such a naked dance of corruption that it has seen during the last 10 years. Thus, a Congress-free India necessarily means an India free from bad governance, dynastic rule, misuse of Constitut

Iran’s Navy: Asian Ambitions? ( Copy Right @ The Diplomat, original article by Trevor Hollingsbee)

Image courtesy- The Reuters/ Muhamed Nureldin Abdalla Iran has a significant history of long-distance seafaring in pursuit of trade with Asia. The presence, to this day, of wealthy and influential families of Iranian descent in some Asian countries, notably India and Thailand, is lingering evidence of early Iranian maritime ambitions in the region. Tehran’s recent foreign policy has been aimed mainly at countering the isolation brought about through international sanctions, by prioritizing official contacts with a relatively small number of friendly nations, and demonstrating that Iran retains credible international reach. The Iranian leadership is, therefore, keen to demonstrate its country’s continuing blue water capability. Over the past seven years, Iran’s offshore naval force, the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN), has undertaken about 30 increasingly ambitious overseas deployments. IRIN’s focus is firmly on offshore waters, as coastal operations are the responsibilit
